25th Anniversary Celebration
Join us Saturday, November 14 as we celebrate the 25th Anniversary of the library with a community open house. The day's events will kick off with a ceremony recognizing this milestone and the efforts of all those who made the dream of a library a reality.
Following the ceremony there will be an open house where you can explore displays celebrating the library's last 25 years, including a 25th Anniversary commemorative quilt designed by Jan Senovich and a historic photo display of Findlay, North Fayette, and Oakdale, created by the library's history committee. There will also be refreshments, entertainment, children's activities, and a visit from local author Todd Vicker, who will be reading and signing his picture book The Hunt for Luke's Bone. Check out our 25th Anniversary page for more information!
New WASD School Bus Stop at WACL
It is now easier than ever to drop by the library with our new school bus stop! Every Monday through Thursday during the school year, teens in Grade 6—12 can take the West Allegheny school bus to the library. Join us one or more days after school. The library will be hosting Teen Zone programs from 3:00—5:00 p.m. in the Teen Room and adjoining Community Room, including Movie Maker with stop-motion animation & our new “Make It” Cart for hands-on crafts.
Teens can participate in these programs, earn volunteer hours, or just hang out in the teen room—read a good book on the couch, use one of the library laptops or iPad, play the Xbox One, or break out a board game with friends. Teens taking the West Allegheny school bus must have their parents send a note to the school and also fill out the library's emergency contact form.
